Charles Gatewood

Memorial services were held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Jesse Charles Gatewood, age 80, of Carson, MS who passed away January 15, 2011 at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. Rev. Diana Deaton officiated. Saulters Moore Funeral Service of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Mr. Gatewood was born on January 14, 1931 in Bassfield, MS. He was the son of Jesse Gatewood and Lurah Dewitt Gatewood. Mr. Gatewood owned and operated the Carson Nursery for 31 years. He was a former Fire Chief of the Granby Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Carson Methodist Church. Mr. Gatewood is survived by his wife, Evelyn King Gatewood of Carson, MS; daughters; Debbie Berry of Leakesville, MS and Judy Webb of Laurel, MS; a son, Joey Gatewood of Sumrall, MS; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carson Methodist Church or the Granby Volunteer Fire Department.
