Willard Scott Smith

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Whitesand Baptist Church for Mr. Willard Smith, age 84, who died January 2, 2011 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Rev. Charles Burnham and Mr. Mitchell Roberts officiated. Interment followed in Whitesand Cemetery. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements. Pallbearers were Wesley Daughdrill, Billy Garner, David Lee, Sonny Langston, Carrolton Lee and Tommy Breland. Willard Scott Smith was born June 7, 1926 in Jefferson Davis County and was the son of William Smith and Tiny Lee Smith. He owned and operated Willard Smith Grocery for 26 years. Mr. Smith served in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Deacon and former Music Director at Whitesand Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances Buckley Smith of Prentiss; one daughter, Vickie Smith Bridges and husband Joe of Prentiss; one son, David Smith and wife, Pam of Cabot, Arkansas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a brother.
