Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, 2011, at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, for Mr. Tommy Rogers, age 63, of Monticello, MS who died December 31, 2010 at his residence. Rev. Carroll Rippy officiated. Interment followed at Old Silver Creek Cemetery. Pall bearers were Travis Langley, David Stogner, Randy Cody, Shane Tullis, Matt Crawford and Buddy Rush. Honorary Pall bearers were Ronnie Shivers, Carey Hedgepeth, Pete Stringer, Aubrey Dyess, Matt Langston, Dale Price, Joe Hamler, Billy Rouse, Lynn Howell, George Hutchinson, Jamie Sauls and members of Local #624 International Union of Operating Engineers. Thomas Houston “Tommy” Rogers, formerly of Prentiss, MS was born February 9, 1947 in Jefferson Davis County and was the son of Mary Nell Hartzog Rogers of Prentiss, MS and the late Robert Glynn Rogers. He worked Pipeline Construction for 42 years and was the co-owner of Dungan-Rogers, Inc. for a number of years. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Kay Cole Rogers of Monticello; one son, Paul Rogers (Melissa) of Brandon; two daughters, Kim Shows of Hattiesburg and Kayla Bullock (Shannon) of Jayess; a step-daughter, Chellie Rush of Prentiss and step-son, Cole Rush of Oakvale; his mother, Mary Nell Rogers of Prentiss; two brothers, Dr. Larry Rogers (Marsha) and Mike Rogers, all of Prentiss; one sister, Susan Peoples (Jim) of Madison and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1907 Dunbarton Dr., Jackson, MS, 39216.
